Buy and sell always mean execution sides. For a short trade, the sale is the entry and the purchase is the exit. Profit is sell value minus buy value in either direction.

NSE only. BSE transaction charges differ. Quantity is units, not lots; use option premiums for options.

Brokerage and charges: common questions

How is brokerage calculated for intraday?

For this discount schedule, each equity intraday order costs 0.03% of order value, capped at ₹20. One buy and one sell order can therefore cost up to ₹40 in brokerage, before other charges.

What is STT?

Securities Transaction Tax is a statutory levy. Equity intraday uses 0.025% on sell value; delivery uses 0.1% on both sides. Futures use 0.05% on sell value and options use 0.15% on sell premium in this estimate, using rates from 1 April 2026.

Why is the total higher than ₹40?

₹40 is only the maximum commission for two capped orders. STT, exchange transaction charges, GST, SEBI charges and stamp duty are added separately. Split orders can also change brokerage.

What are points to breakeven?

Total estimated charges divided by quantity: the approximate price movement per unit needed to cover these costs, rounded to two decimals. Actual exit-dependent charges and price ticks can change the exact breakeven.
